Gift Certificate Ramblings - 2020

Starting off with a sidebar of sorts – Why do we have lots of photos of everyone in the family except MOM? Sure, things are different today with the ubiquitous recording device attached like an appendage, but plenty of us have lived our lives in the greater part with cameras, film, and the anticipation of getting those photos back in the mail or picking up at the local camera shop. Moms and Grandmoms may have lived up to 80 of their years with only film, and certainly no cameras that were capable of creating selfies. That's a thing of the past 15 years at best.

Kinda got off on a tangent there, but I was thinking about the gift certificates and how they prompt folk to engage in a process that produces one of the most cherished of our belongings – timeless portraits that preserve beautiful moments – so that those moments do not die. Sounds melancholy, but, jeepers, how true. And one subject that we need more fine images of is – Moms. Maybe my mom is the one who held the camera, made sure that everyone else was in the photo. That's what they do, or did, in the film days.

Then there's the aspect of Snapshot or Portrait – mobile devices are suitable for snapshots, social media, etc., and professional portraits are legacy images that are passed on to future generations. We need both, and often it's the inspiration of a gift that spurs someone to schedule that portrait session they'd been thinking about anyway!

Be in touch and we'll get a gift certificate out to you or your loved one right away!
