Hot and steamy in the city and, well, hot and steamy here on the Island as well, but not every day, and if we’re shooting in the studio, no prob. Out in the great garden, we hit the late afternoon when the heat lets up, the sun is soft and the southern breeze cools us down.
Tips for making the most out of those Summer Photo ops!
- The lush green of the garden goes beautifully with flower hues: think pink, peach, all rose tones, lavender, pastels that stand out from the green, plus neutrals like beige, tan, khaki. White is fine if it’s a bit more subdued than Clorox white.
- Solids, inside or out, work well, and prints, florals, etc., are fine if they complement the other outfits in the group.
- Nails are freshly polished (if polished at all), and check the children, as they are sometimes overlooked, and come with a variety of colors on their nails, and will wail if we try to undo this. = (
- Fabrics that flow nicely (thinking of women’s dresses that look lovely sitting, whether on a blanket with the children or on a garden seat), as opposed to some linens that wrinkle easily and do not ‘sit well’.
- If you’re a dancer, let’s talk about outfits that let you show off your artistry, exploring the combo of dance poses and the great outdoors = )
- Never know when the skeeters are gonna show up, so I have bug spray in different strengths, or please bring what you typically use for your family to avoid the distraction of bites and having to scratch that itch!
