So, the holidays are here again, and in the shops, Christmas frill and fancy has already swept away any reminder of summer (and spooky day, for that matter). In the studio the same, and this year’s in-studio motif is NORDIC WINTER, clean, white, uncluttered, with a few beautifully wrapped gifts, a frosted Christmas tree, and cozy pillows and blankets.

 The outdoor sessions are not included in the 'Shorter Than Normal Sessions' pricing. They are higher maintenance sessions and since I do not do blocks of mini sessions, 20 minutes each, 15 in a block (whew!), they are booked as regular sessions. The decorations are set out and arranged for individual client appointments. 

Having photographed classic, custom, tailored, long-ish portrait sessions for over 40 years, the notion of Mini Sessions of 15 to 20 minutes rather eludes me. For one, I might still travel, scuba dive, and hit the hiking trails now and again, but shooting 15 portrait sessions in a couple of hours of kids who have little jurisdiction over their expressions when prompted, well, that might be where I jump the shark. Too used to finished portraits that deserve a place on your wall, and not just on holiday cards.

I may get over this (probably not = ), but time is short for this season anyway, as it’s November 1 today.

I’m still shooting portrait sessions here this season, and will likely split the difference between 100% tailored sessions and 15-minute Get’m in Get’m out Sessions. Update: Check out the Pricing Page for complete details for the shorter sessions this season.

Now I’ll edit a portrait session and then move on to figuring out the rest of my trip after the New Year to Japan, Hong Kong, and the Philippines for diving. It’s all good, just sometimes you gotta figure out where to stop to avoid jumping the shark.
