Tips for Choosing Your Portrait Photographer - Long Island

Let’s face it, having a portrait done is a little project, and may be the reason many pass up the opportunity to own a piece of artwork of their own children, family, or a Vanity Fair style portrait of yourself, at any age! But with a bit of planning and great advice from your professional photographer, the process is easy, the portrait session unfolds creatively (and also fun!), and viewing the images at The Reveal is simply exciting – nothing like it!

I’m renovating part of the studio today, as well as working in the garden a bit before an outdoor session, so this is just to get you started as you plan for your own special session!

  1. Who is going to be in the portrait? The children, family, couple, generations, one adult, etc.
  2. Review photographer’s portfolios - do they contain images that reflect the style, genre, ages, location, in-studio, outdoors, and artistic sense that appeal to you?
  3. Do they offer complimentary consultations to start the planning and answer all of your questions and concerns?
  4. Will you have an in-person appointment to view your portraits and receive expert advice on choosing your portraits, as well as the finish, framing, artwork, etc.?

We’ll do more of a deep dive on this subject, but for now, please be in touch with any questions you may have, and summer has started, and the garden is perfect for any age or group.
