40 years ago I decided to turn my 15-year fascination with photography into a portrait studio, for real. Actually, January 2024 is the 40th Anniversary of June Jacobsen Portrait Design. It’s been an amazing journey, with highs and lows, and the double-edged sword of technology upsetting our cart, but that’s history at this point. For this brief blog post I introduce my latest project; setting up an Etsy Shop, June Jacobsen Art. Ps. I'm still doing portrait sessions = ).

In between busy portrait seasons, I slipped away to places far off, places I’ve grown to love and long to find myself in, once again. Every continent is amazing, and I’ve seen so little of each. Aside from family travel, my purpose is to go where the wildlife roams. Brown bears in Alaska, polar bears in the High Arctic, orangutans in Borneo, lions, leopards, gorillas, cheetahs, and all of the grand species in Africa, blue-footed boobies and old tortoises in Galapagos, penguins in Antarctica, kangaroos, crocs, and koalas in Australia, and then there’s the underwater world. Having started scuba diving late in life, I couldn’t wait forever to get in the water with sharks and whales. Bull sharks and other species, quite a few, in Fiji, and swimming with humpback whales in Tonga, also in the South Pacific Ocean, and many smaller species underwater in Galapagos, Grand Cayman, Roatan (Honduras), Borneo, and the Red Sea in Egypt. 

But I digress = ) … My new Etsy shop features images from my travels as well as Long Island, New York, where I reside. We have beautiful parks, over 50 vineyards on the eastern end, rivers for kayaking, but the best feature to me is the beaches, gorgeous long stretches of ocean beach called Fire Island. Images may be printed on photographic paper, canvas wraps, vivid metal, and glossy acrylic, different treatments for so many different home decor purposes and spaces.
